STELLA Horizon EU Project aims to develop the STELLA PSS, a comprehensive digital system designed for the early warning and detection of regulated pests, coupled with an effective response strategy. This innovative system leverages modern sensing technologies and Artificial Intelligence to monitor plant health. The STELLA PSS will be rigorously tested over three years across six Use Case Pilots (UCPs) in various agricultural settings, including arable, orchard, and vineyard crops, as well as large forest areas. The project focuses on eight different Regulated Non-Quarantine Pests (RNQP) and quarantine diseases across four European countries and New Zealand. STELLA also includes capacity-building activities to equip farmers, agronomists, and stakeholders with the necessary skills to use the system and promote eco-friendly crop protection methods. Policy recommendations derived from STELLA PSS findings will support European Commission goals for pesticide reduction and agricultural digitalization.
